Yndigo is a translation agency created by me, Glenn Cain. It’s pronounced “indigo” like the color. I like the color indigo, and I felt the ‘y’ added something. Besides confusion, that is. Y is the first letter in yellow, which is almost the opposite of indigo. This melding of opposites in a lovely sounding word has something of the contrast and fluidity of translation.

Yndigo Translations specializes in translation for the legal community. This niche is not limited to legal jargon — because law firms handle a wide array of subjects that are not in legalese — but includes the service and translation standards proper to the legal industry.

For this reason, we seek out translators that have a mastery of the topic they translate: science, engineering, finance, architecture, insurance, patents, computer programming, the environment, etc. Of course, law firms send us legalese, too, for which we have no shortage of experts.

I’ve also advised people for years how to get large and complex translation projects done efficiently and well. The blog started, as many do, with a desire to let some of the knowlege gained over the years spill over for others to read, comment on, disagree with, and correct as they see fit.
